NHI No Humans Involved 2nd Edition A Nate Richards Novel Book One Volume 1 Ray Ellis 9781938596001 Books
Within 24 hours a detective and a 16 year old boy are found dead. The murders are evidently gang related. Both bodies are left with a mysterious symbol none of the police officers can identify. Things get real strange when a box is delivered at detective Nate Richards' front door in the middle of the night, containing a cloth with the very same symbol printed on it. How does the symbol connect to the new and extremely dangerous street gang that has settled in the old part of town?Nate Richards has to solve the murders, but finds all kinds of difficulties on his path. Besides the challenges at work, Nate struggles with his feelings for his girlfriend Amber, whom he loves but is afraid to admit it. Unfortunately the king of the new street gang does not have this problem and not for long Amber is in grave danger.
N.H.I. is a marvellous suspense novel, written from experience, both as to the police work as to human thoughts and actions. Some of the characters act rather strange and unexpected, but isn't that exactly what people do from time to time? We are all inclined to act contrary to what we should do.
Being a baptist myself I love the christian atmosphere the book breathes. Nate's father is a preacher. Nate, being a Christian too, wants to convince his superior of God's love for him, but the man gives Nate a hard time.
Through the book, Nate struggles with his faith. He is slack on attending church and Bible studies, blaming it on his work. His father urges Nate to ask God's help in his search for the killers. However, Nate's memory is rather short on this topic, which does not bring him closer to solving the case.
All in all this is a great read. I must admit I had some reservations when first picking up the book. "How interesting can a book named `N.H.I.' be?" But soon I found myself flipping through the pages.

NHI No Humans Involved 2nd Edition A Nate Richards Novel Book One Volume 1 Ray Ellis 9781938596001 Books Reviews
Ok, so I love a deal, I like knowing I got value for money spent...that being said this book is a treasure. I'm a owner and devout book reader; book buying has become compulsive, so I am ALWAYS looking for a deal. That is how I found this little GEM!!!!.
The story is fresh... the emotions between the main characters are "oh" so real. Neat Richards is sexy but saved, he's not over the top religious, but he knows GOD.
The author did an awesome job of not "selling" religion by making this a "Christian book"... Nate Richards' faith is a much a part of him as his skin color, it's simply who he is.
This feels like what Walter Mosley did with Easy Rawlins ...I love a good detective story!!!
The way this one ended, I am hoping for more installments from Ray Ellis and the adventures of Nate Richards....write on...
Buy it, READ it, you won't regret it!
WOW! Yes, WOW It is that good! Living in the Meridian area, it was fun to read about places I have visited! The characters are full of life and you can feel the emotion as they feel it! I could so see Amber thinking all was safe and trying to return to her "life" even after told not to. Wanting normalcy to take over quickly and not listening to the professionals! (sounds like real life to me!) The story was exciting and fast moving with one surprise after another. Just when you thought it couldn't get much better it did! I was easily drawn into the life of Gracie! What a doll! I hope we see more of her in the next book... Anyone can find someone in this book to relate to or you know someone just like "them". A truly well written novel with movie potential! Now the wait for the next case begins...
Author Ray Ellis writes what he knows and loves. As a Christian minister and a police officer, he has witnessed the best and the worst of humanity. Both show up in this book.
Ellis proves that you can write a very good crime novel without the highlighting the vulgarity and immorality that is found among the criminal elements in society.
He also proves that you can include romance (for the ladies) in a novel without it being pornographic, (or even mushy), and without romanticizing adultery, homosexuality, pre-marital sex, or other behaviors that the the mainstream thinks must be present in every story.
Throw in that Ellis did not have to study police to write about crime...he lives it, and it shows.
This is one of those books that you can include as one of the best points...that it is part of a series.
This is a book that takes you deep into the gritty life of a police detective trying to live his life as honorably as he can. Not an easy thing to do when becoming jaded and cynical would be an easier choice. Nate Richards, the hero in this gripping police procedural, is a first rate detective who takes his calling as a cop seriously but not at the expense of his beliefs.Nate refuses to accept the short hand dismissal of the people who live in the ugly streets as No Humans Involved. In Nate's view there are always human involved be they good or evil. His job is to root out the evil and protect the good.In Nate's view that doesn't depend on where they live or the shabbiness of their lives. A compelling book with memorable characters. The good, the bad and the ugly. Real life through a cop's eyes.
This was an excellent first book by Ray Ellis! I enjoy reading books with a lot of action and suspense, and this book sure didn't disappoint me at all!
After I read the book I saw that it was a christian murder mystery. This book was not at all a church type book trying to preach to you. I have read non-christian books that have felt more preachy than this book. Don't get me wrong, it did have bible references in it, but they fit well into the story.
We are introduced to Detective Nate Richards. He is trying to solve the case of a murder of a fellow police officer and a teen boy. His partner is also injured during a shooting. The anarchist symbol seems to be the killer's trademark. That leads Nate to think that it is a certain gang that is doing the killings.
I definitely recommend this book! It had a great mix of characters. The action was intense, and the ending was very surprising! I am looking forward to reading the next book written by Ray Ellis!
